Stress relieving to remove machining stresses should be carried out by heating to approx. 650℃, holding for 1-2 hours at heat, followed by air cooling. This operation is performed to reduce distortion during heat treatment.
Hardening: Harden froma temperature of 890-930℃, followed by oil or water quenching. Hardness after quenching is 56-59, 61-64 HRC.
Tempering: Tempering temperature: 150-400℃ForgingHot forming temperature: Heat slowly and uniformly to 1000℃. Forge within a range of 1000/800℃ reheating if necessary. Cool slowly (preferably in a furnace) to avoid setting up stresses.
Corrosion resistance: Corrosion resistance of this alloy is better than that of plain carbon steels. However it will rust unless given protective treatment.
